Net income increased by US $ 212 million , due to better results at Arauco , primarily due to higher other income associated with the sale of forestry assets in the south of Chile . Additionally , there was a better performance in the energy sector , explained by a favorable industrial margin at Copec , a positive inventory revaluation effect in fuels , a higher contribution from the lubricants segment and an increase in Terpel's result . Net income reached US $ 440 million , an increase compared to the previous quarter , explained by a higher result at Arauco , associated with the sale of forestry assets and a rise in operating income , driven by higher pulp and panel sales , and by a higher result in the mining sector , mainly due to higher copper prices and physical sales . This was partially offset by a lower result in the energy sector . Net income reached US $ 712 million , higher than that recorded in the previous year , reflecting an improvement in energy , explained by a higher industrial margin at Copec , a positive inventory revaluation effect in fuels , a better performance at Abastible , and a higher result at Arauco , associated with an increase in pulp and panel sales and the sale of forestry assets .
