Wafer area sold exceeded the already high level of Q2 2021 , with sales rising by 8.9 percent to EUR 371.6 million compared to Q2 2021. Sales in the 9 - month period from January to Sep- tember 2021 increased significantly by a good 11 percent compared to the prior year . " The growth in wafer area in 2021 is exceptional . On the one hand , we see catch - up effects from 2020 and , at the same time , high investments in digitization .
