As the Group's share of the revaluation value of the International Finance Centre complex remained unchanged for the period under review , profit after taxation attributable to shareholders of the Group amounted to HK $ 4,200 million , an increase of HK $ 1,533 million , up by 57.5 per cent , compared to the same period last year . Earnings per share for the first half of 2021 amounted to HK22.5 cents . The Group's profit growth in the first half of 2021 was mainly due to the mainland's economic recovery , a significant increase in the volume of city - gas sales , increase in energy product prices , and profit contribution from a hydro - treated vegetable oil ( " HVO " ) project .
