For the first half of 2021 , the Group recorded a profit attributable to owners of the Company ( the " Net Profit " ) of HK $ 5,105 million , representing an increase of HK $ 576 million or 12.7 % from the Net Profit of HK $ 4,529 million for the first half of 2020 . Basic earnings per share for the first half of 2021 amounted to HK $ 1.06 , representing an increase of 12.7 % from HK $ 0.94 for the first half of 2020 . In Renminbi ( “ RMB ” ) terms , the Net Profit amounted to RMB4,263 million for the first half of 2021 , representing an increase of RMB162 million or 4.0 % from the Net Profit of RMB4,101 million for the first half of 2020 . Excluding the effects of non - cash or non - recurring gains and losses such as foreign exchange gains and losses and asset impairment losses , core business profit attributable to shareholders ( the " Core Profit " ) for the first half of 2021 amounted to HK $ 5,277 million , representing an increase of HK $ 846 million or 19.1 % from the Core Profit of HK $ 4,431 million for the first half of 2020 . In the first half of 2021 , Net Profit contribution ( before non - cash exchange gains and losses ) from renewable energy business amounted to HK $ 4,465 million ( in the first half of 2020 : HK $ 2,645 million ) , while Net Profit contribution ( before non - cash exchange gains and losses ) from thermal power business amounted to HK $ 797 million ( in the first half of 2020 : HK $ 1,639 million ) . Net Profit contribution from renewable energy business accounted for approximately 84.9 % ( in the first half of 2020 : approximately 61.7 % ) .
