Selling prices also increased due to the rise in naphtha prices. ・Caustic soda shipments increased due to higher production volume reflecting differences in the scale of scheduled maintenance at the Nanyo Complex, but export prices declined due to the decline in overseas market conditions. ・Vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) shipments decreased due to lower production volume caused by concerns over feedstock procurement reflecting tensions in the Middle East. ・Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin shipments increased both in Japan and overseas. ・Overseas selling prices of VCM and PVC increased due to improvement in overseas market conditions. ・Cement shipments decreased in Japan due to weak demand, but domestic selling prices increased. ・Methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) shipments increased due to higher production volume reflecting differences in the scale of scheduled maintenance at the Nanyo Complex, and selling prices increased as overseas market conditions improved due to the impact of tensions in the Middle East. <Operating Income> Operating income increased due to a substantial improvement in favorable inventory valuation outweighed a decrease in shipments of ethylene, propylene, cumene and other products and deteriorated terms of trade due to higher prices in raw materials and fuels.
