FY2025 Q2 Overview 2 1.Market environment(1) While there existed solid demand in the information and communications market,the semiconductor market, and the electronics market, trend to figure out the economic policy becameconspicuous in the markets from the second half of the fiscal year.(2) Precious metal markets stabilized, and yen was depreciated more than projected against the U.S. Dollar.2.Our performance(1)Revenue in Q2 was 12.9 billion yen (+1.9billion yen YoY) and gross income was 4.1billion yen(+0.5billion yen YoY). The accumulated revenue for the first half of FY2025 was 26.8 billion yen(+5.7billion yen YoY) and the gross income was 7.8 billion yen (+1.2billion yen YoY). The result indicateda progress as planned.(2) The Thin Film segment and The Fine Chemicals & Recycling segment contributed much, exceedingthe results of both Q2 and the first six months of the previous year. The Thermal segment struggled.

Business Environment & Second Half Financial Outlook 13 1.Business Environment(1)Uncertainty is increasing in the information and communications, semiconductor, and electronics markets,mainly due to economic policies and other factors.(2) In the environment-related market, capital investment plans have been postponed recently, but demand outlook for hydrogen in the medium to long-term remains unchanged.(3) As for market sentiment, demand for iridium is expected to weaken due to the postponement of capital investment for water electrolysis. Demand for ruthenium is firm, and its price is expected to rise slightly.Second Half Financial Outlook(1)In the information and communications, semiconductor, and electronics markets, the medium to long-termdemand outlook remains firm and unchanged, and we will continue to develop materials and make capitalinvestments in anticipation of future growth drivers.(2) In the Thin Film segment, demand for hard disks is expected to be strong, and in the Fine chemicals andRecycling segment, electrode catalysts are expected to be strong.(3) Movements of customers’ capital investment plans in the Electronics segment and delays in the recovery ofinventory adjustments in the Thermal segment are risk factors that might affect the business performancein the second half adversely.(4) Demand for precious metals and foreign exchange movements also need to be watched carefully.
