1. Qualitative Information (1) Consolidated Operating Results [For the three-month period ended June 30, 2026] (a) General Economic Situation For the three-month period ended June 30, 2026, the global economy generally lacked momentum due to higher crude oil and other commodity prices, as well as supply chain disruptions resulting from heightened tensions in the Middle East. In the U.S., the economy remained resilient, as consumer spending remained firm with the positive effect of the Trump tax cuts helping to ease the impact of higher gasoline prices, while capital expenditures driven by AI-related demand also provided support. In Europe, although exports and production activities showed signs of recovery, rising energy prices restrained the service sector and consumer spending. In China, while exports remained strong, domestic demand deteriorated due to the continued weakness in the real estate market, diminishing effects of government stimulus measures, and the impact of higher crude oil prices. In Japan, although exports, particularly to Asia and the Middle East, lacked momentum and supply chain bottlenecks associated with heightened tensions in the Middle East were observed, consumer spending and capital expenditures remained firm, supported by increases in real wages and AI-related demand. - 3 -
