The dividend is payable on November 29 , 2021 to shareholders of record at the close of business on November 22 , 2021 . Third Quarter 2021 Financial Summary • Third quarter royalties were $ 2.5 million , an increase of 12 percent from the same period in the prior year . • Third quarter product sales were $ 805,000 , a decrease of 48 percent from the same period in the prior year . • Operating expenses totaled $ 2.0 million in the third quarter of 2021 , a decrease of 11 percent from the prior year period . • Net income for the third quarter of 2021 totaled $ 613,000 compared to a net income of $ 659,000 for the same period in the prior year . • The cash balance increased to $ 8.5 million at September 30 , 2021 , up from $ 8.4 million at the end of the second quarter of 2021 . 2021 Year - to - Date Financial Summary • Royalties for the first nine months of 2021 increased to $ 6.8 million compared to $ 6.5 million for the same period in the prior year . • Product sales for the first nine months of 2021 were $ 3.3 million , a decrease of 13 percent from the same period in the prior year . • Operating expenses totaled $ 5.9 million in the first nine months of 2021 , a decrease of 21 percent from the prior year period .
