REPORTS FIRST QUARTER DILUTED EARNINGS OF $ 2.16 PER SHARE AND DECLARES QUARTERLY DIVIDEND OF 86 ¢ PER SHARE SOUTHPORT , CONNECTICUT , May 5 , 2021 -- Sturm , Ruger & Company , Inc. ( NYSE - RGR ) announced today that for the first quarter of 2021 the Company reported net sales of $ 184.4 million and diluted earnings of $ 2.16 per share , compared with net sales of $ 123.6 million and diluted earnings of 87 ¢ per share in the first quarter of 2020 . The Company also announced today that its Board of Directors declared a dividend of 86 ¢ per share for the first quarter for stockholders of record as of May 17 , 2021 , payable on May 28 , 2021. This dividend varies every quarter because the Company pays a percentage of earnings rather than a fixed amount per share . This dividend is approximately 40 % of net income . Chief Executive Officer Christopher J. Killoy commented on the financial results for the first quarter of 2021 , " Strengthening our workforce and realizing operational efficiencies resulted in an outstanding quarter .
